Just as buying a scalpel doesn’t make you a surgeon, mounting a camera on your helmet doesn’t make you a camera flier. So if you want to learn how to fly a camera safely and successfully, you should learn from one of the best. We are pleased that we were able to win Ralph Wilhelm, one of the best camera pilots in the world, for a camera course at our site.

Ralph has not only flown the camera at several German championships in the 4 and 8 man as well as in freefly, he also took part in the 4 man national team at the 2014 World Championships. He has filmed national and world records, shot commercials for McDonalds, among others, and flew the camera for the most watched skydiving video of all time with 1.6 billion viewers.

In his 2.5 day course he will cover everything from technical aspects (camera, helmet, suit, rig, wing, etc.) to practical flying skills for filming teams and tandems and formations of any size both on belly as well as in sitfly or headdown. In the lessons as well as in the practical jumps, the focus is on safety and the perfect shot. Whether you’re looking to make your very first camera jump or you’re a seasoned camera flyer looking to take your skills to the next level, Ralph’s camera course is perfect for you.

The course begins on Monday at 3 p.m. (until around 9 p.m.) with an assessment and improvement of the existing equipment. The next day, what has been learned will be implemented in free fall, the videos will be discussed and further improved. Wednesday will be briefed, jumped and the video you created will be debriefed as long and as often as you want.
